The »International Film Festival Primus« is closely connected to Ptuj, the oldest city in Slovenia. It is dedicated to films focusing on history and cultural heritage. This increases the festival’s educational value, helps develop critical thinking, and distances itself from the remote and more recent past. The culture of the cinematic art takes over an important role in society, which is especially crucial in the time of crisis, which requires art forms to surpass their mere aesthetic or entertaining value. Numerous documentary and historical films will remind us of our cultural heritage, and thus help preserve it. They will serve as a basis for reconsidering the influence of history and historic personalities or events on our residential culture and communication and the lack thereof, as well as the fears and other life matters important not only for Slovenia, but also for the broader region.
